In Honor of Avocados



I have a serious weakness for avocados. I love them topped on anything; especially eggs and thick pieces of toasted brown bread.  Sometimes I even halve, sprinkle with sea salt and scoop right out of the skin those lazy nights Boyfriend's out and I can eat like I used to in college. I really express my passion for this fatty Californian fruit with anyone who will listen friends, so this month when an American girlfriend emailed me about this event and another living in the Dominican Republic tweeted about her newfound appreciation it made me genuinely happy. You can take the girl out of California, but you can't take the California out of me! Even though avocados are silly expensive in the Netherlands I still eat them embarrassingly often.  It's worth it.

Favorite dinner recipe:
4 ripe avocados
2 limes, juiced
1 chopped white onion
dash of garlic powder
red chili flakes
salt & pepper to taste

Scoop with sweet chili tortilla chips.  Yum.

  3. Okay I am swooning over here!! I have been waiting anxiously for the avacados to go on sale here since they are out of season but I don't think I can wait any longer!!

  4. move to mexico... avocados are SO CHEAP here!! i get 10 for 40 pesos (which is less than $4 US)
